Continued detention of Hurriyet leaders denounced

Srinagar, January 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, at least two Indian troops were killed and ten people were injured in an attack in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar, today.

Unidentified attackers lobbed grenades and fired at Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel, this afternoon.

Officials said that the attackers had taken refuge in a hotel, which was cordoned off by Indian police personnel. Firing was going on till last reports came in.

Forceful demonstrations in Gojwara area of Srinagar continued for the second consecutive day, today, against the detention of an innocent youth under the black law, Public Safety Act. Pitched battles were witnessed between demonstrators and Indian troops in the area.

The Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Hurriyet in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly denounced the illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and Masarrat Alam Butt.

The JKLF-R in a statement, expressing serious concern over the deteriorating health of the party Secretary General, Muhammad Saleem Nunnaji, said that the occupation authorities would be responsible if anything untoward happened to him.
